Aangezien onze media erg traag en/of onvolledig verslag doen, heb ik op Twitter een draadje gemaakt met veel videomateriaal van de protesten in Gaza. Hieronder deze twitterdraad, en daaronder nog wat losse observaties over de kennelijke onwil bij bepaalde media en ‘Palestina activisten’ om de stem van Gaza te vertolken als die tegen Hamas is.
En – niet onbelangrijk – de kennelijke onwil van de NOS om verslag te doen van de woede in Gaza over de verslaggeving van Hamaspropagandazender Al Jazeera. Wat natuurlijk niet zo verwonderlijk is, aangezien de NOS deze zender al heel lang gebruikt als ‘betrouwbare’ bron.
Het is elke keer weer een ontgoocheling om te zien hoe dubieus de motieven van veel media en ‘pro-Palestina’ activisten kennelijk zijn. De mensen van Gaza zijn voor hen alleen interessant als zij tegen Israël tekeer gaan. Zodra de Gazanen in opstand komen tegen het regime van Hamas – wiens misdaden de NOS liever toedekt – gaat de ‘empathie’ met de Palestijnen in rook op.
